Given the uncertainty surrounding Diaz’s long-term future at Anfield, the Premier League leaders are allegedly closely monitoring Leao ahead of the summer transfer window.
The Colombian winger, who was linked to a move last year, is still a target for Spanish powerhouse Barcelona.
Leao and Assane Diao, a young Como winger, are among the candidates being considered if Diaz leaves anfield.
Galetti claims that because AC Milan is unlikely to make it to the Champions League, they are willing to let go of some of their best players this summer.
With 11 games remaining, Sergio Conceicao’s team is currently in ninth place in Serie A, 11 points behind Juventus in fourth place, reports Give Me Sport.
Liverpool and Barcelona are keeping an eye on Leao, who is hailed as “one of the best players in the world,” while full-back Theo Hernandez is “destined to leave.”
According to reports, the Catalans declared their intention to begin summer talks with Leao and made an official approach for the Portugal international in December.
Leao is firmly on Liverpool’s radar but in order to finance the deal, they might need to sell Diaz first.
