Liverpool May Be Forced To Reduce £10m Value For Leeds United Target With Exit “Expected”

Liverpool could be willing to reduce their £10 million asking price for rumoured Leeds United target Nat Phillips. The Whites have been linked with a bid for the defender, who is expected to depart Anfield on a permanent basis this summer, according to the Liverpool Echo.

The sum, which the Reds have set at £10 million for the 26-year-old academy graduate, would be one sticking point. However, with Liverpool looking for defensive reinforcements after conceding 47 Premier League goals last season, their highest total under Jurgen Klopp’s management, they may be willing to accept a lower fee for Phillips in order to move him on, as he would almost certainly fall further down the pecking order.

The Athletic previously reported that Leeds are keen on signing Liverpool centre-back Nat Phillips this summer, with the defender seemingly surplus to requirements at Anfield.

Leeds are not the only club rumored to be interested in Phillips, with Dutch club Feyenoord also reportedly interested. Phillips began his career on loan with VfB Stuttgart, where he helped the club earn promotion in 2019-20.

He made his Premier League debut for Liverpool the following season, appearing in 17 league games, but has since made only two more top-flight appearances. Phillips has appeared in three Champions League games for the Reds in the 2020-21 season and two more the following year.

He joined Bournemouth on loan for the second half of the 2021-22 season, when he helped the Cherries finish second in the Championship and gain promotion to the Premier League.
