Liverpool are apparently in negotiations with Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Manu Kone, who is considered as a potential replacement for Jude Bellingham. Jurgen Klopp’s side withdrew from the race to sign the England international owing to financial worries, and he now appears poised to join Real Madrid instead, forcing the Reds to shift their focus elsewhere.
According to Bild, Liverpool has been in contact with Kone’s representation and has expressed interest in bringing him to Anfield. The Bundesliga club wants between £35 million and £40 million for his signature following another outstanding season with the club.
Kone’s contract at Gladbach expires in 2025, but the German club has the option to extend his stay for another year, putting them in a strong position to bargain with Liverpool’s new sporting director Jorg Schmadtke. He signed a short-term contract at Anfield on Tuesday and will assist Klopp with his midfield revamp.

Liverpool fans will be anticipating many reinforcements to the midfield, one of which may be Kone, while the club has also been highly associated with Brighton’s Alexis Mac Allister, Chelsea star Mason Mount, and Nice’s Khephren Thuram. The Argentine’s departure from Brighton has been dubbed as ‘imminent,’ with the Reds said to be leading the battle to sign him.
Mount has a slew of Premier League suitors, including Liverpool, Manchester United, and Arsenal. His Chelsea contract expires in just over a year, and he could lead an exodus as the club attempts to raise funds after a £600m spending spree over the last two windows, although sources claim he would prefer a move to Old Trafford.
