Liverpool are reportedly interested in signing Chelsea superstar N’Golo Kante on a free transfer in the upcoming summer.
Jurgen Klopp has made it clear that he wants to sign a new midfielder this summer. And, according to El Nacional, he is now focused on out-of-contract Kante. The 31-year-old has only made two appearances this season due to a serious injury.
Chelsea were initially thought to be willing to let him go on a free transfer. Premier League rivals Arsenal and Tottenham have both been keeping an eye on Kante. Barcelona has also expressed an interest.
However, Liverpool are thought to be leading the race if Kante decides to leave Stamford Bridge. But it is well known that Chelsea has changed their mind about the terms of the contract.
And they’ve been negotiating a new contract with Kante for the past month.
Todd Boehly is expected to meet with the French World Cup winner and his agents this week.
Chelsea is hoping that Kante will reject any interest from Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp in order to extend his stay in London.

Kante, 31, joined the Blues from Leicester City in 2016 for £32m, and has since established himself as one of the top midfielders in the world. So far, he has led his current club to six trophies, including the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League.
Chelsea hope that by giving him enough time to recover from his current setback, the veteran will be able to find his best form when he returns later this season.
Apart from Kante, the Merseyside club are also interested in Jude Bellingham, Matheus Nunes, Ruben Neves, Sofyan Amrabat, Declan Rice, Sander Berge, and Emmanuel Kouadio Kone.
