Liverpool have reportedly dropped out of the race to sign Chelsea midfielder, Mason Mount ahead of the summer transfer window.
The Anfield club have been heavily linked to the 24-year-old midfielder as they are ready for a complete overhaul in their midfield department.
They began their summer expenditure by recruiting World Cup winner Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton for around £35 million. But Jurgen Klopp will try to entice more signings during the window.
Manu Kone of Borussia Monchengladbach and Nice’s Khephren Thuram are two players who have recently been heavily linked to the club.
With the arrival of new sporting director Jorg Schmadtke on June 1, the Reds will be looking to complete the majority of their transfer business before beginning their preseason preparations.
The Athletic reports that Liverpool’s interest in Chelsea’s homegrown talent has waned. This is as a result of a shift in how they perceived the midfielder’s worth.
The Reds believe that Chelsea’s asking price of between £70 million and £80 million for their two-time Player of the Year is exorbitant.
Since personal terms were reportedly agreed upon at the end of the season. Mount is largely believed to be gearing up for a move to Manchester United.

However, United’s assessment of the player differs from that of the west London side. The Manchester club is apparently prepared to make an offer of £50 million for the England international.
After months of negotiations between the player’s representatives and co-sporting directors Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley. As well as, at one point, co-controlling owner Todd Boehly, failed to result in the parties agreeing to a new contract. Mount’s contract is slated to expire in 2024.
