Liverpool are reportedly on alert to make a summer move for Japanese attacking midfielder Keito Nakamura. The 22-year-old who currently plays for LASK in the Austrian Bundesliga has reportedly caught the eye of Aston Villa and Burnley.
In the just concluded season, he plundered 17 goals and provided 8 assists in 36 appearances in all competitions.
His recent performance won him his senior Japan debut. He scored on his second appearance on Thursday.
The Daily Mail claims that interest in Nakamura is now increasing. According to the report, Liverpool are one of the top teams monitoring the 22-year-old.
This season, Nakamura was almost solely used as a left winger, a position that Liverpool currently have Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota filling.
However, the fierce rivalry for his services may spur them to reaffirm their own desire. Aston Villa and Burnley are reportedly interested in Nakamura in addition to Liverpool in the Premier League.
Other reported suitors are Eintracht Frankfurt, Lille, Lyon, Reims, Borussia Dortmund, Borussia Monchengladbach, and Feyenoord from other European countries.
He started his career in his native country with Gamba Osaka. He first saw European football via a loan stint with FC Twente in the Eredivisie. Followed by a similar term with Sint-Truiden in Belgium.
