Liverpool Ready To Submit Another Bid For Lavia After Initial Offer Was Rejected

Liverpool are reportedly expected to submit another improved bid to Southampton for Romeo Lavia, who the club valued £50 million.

The Belgian international didn’t take long to establish himself as one of the Premier League’s top young midfielders.

Despite Southampton’s relegation from the top division, the youngster had a significant impact during his debut season. Despite having only two prior senior appearances, Lavia made 34 appearances across all competitions. And swiftly shown why the Saints had forked over £14 million to get him from Manchester City.

According to The Echo, Liverpool have reportedly identified the 19-year-old in their search for a new holding midfield player. This is because Fabinho and captain Jordan Henderson appear to be moving to Saudi Arabia. However, it seems they will have to spend £50 million to acquire Lavia after purportedly getting a £37 million bid rejected.

Lavia enjoyed instant successes during his days at the Cityzens’ academy. Spending his time between City’s Under-18s and the Under-21 squad led by new Leicester City manager Enzo Maresca. Winning two league championships in his first season.

Lavia, who afterwards started training with the first team, won another under-21 championship, and made a good impression on his compatriot De Bruyne.

Speaking in 2022, Man City’s talisman said: “He [Lavia] is very good. He’s been training with us since the end of last year. If he continues his development, I think he’ll be a top player.”

Lavia made his senior debut in September 2021, playing the full 90 minutes against Wycombe Wanderers in the Carabao Cup.

Guardiola showed his confidence in Lavia by including him in 18 matchday squads that season. Including the FA Cup and the UEFA Champions League semifinals.
