Liverpool Right-Back Doubtful Of A ‘Good Start’ Under A New Manager After Klopp’s Exit

Trent Alexander-Arnold has revealed that the forthcoming pre-season will be “weird,” dropping a bombshell on the new Liverpool manager taking over for Jurgen Klopp.

Following Klopp’s trophy-filled tenure at Anfield, Sporting Lisbon head coach Ruben Amorim is the favorite to take over as Liverpool’s manager.

Alexander-Arnold, the Reds’ deputy captain and the rest of the team—aside from Brendan Rodgers pick Joe Gomez will need to adjust to a new manager giving them orders in light of Klopp’s departure, according to Daily Star.

“Instead, I know exactly what the manager wants me to play now, and when I show up for preseason, I know to jump there and press there but this summer, my next preseason will have an entirely different message,” the player said.

“It’s going to be strange but I think I like the idea of a new challenge for the team, the players and the club.” Under the German manager, the 25-year-old made his debut for the team as a teenager, and he has no doubts about his significance to his career.

“He has been amazing throughout. As a player, I owe everything to him. I was thinking about this recently and realized that as a young player, all you can ask for is an opportunity—that is, a manager who will give you a chance—and I was lucky enough to have that.

“Not only that, he put his arm round me and guided me through it, through the ups and downs, winning and losing games, and taking it game by game, because your first bad game you think you’re never going to kick a ball again, but he gives you that reassurance.”

Trent Becomes Hopeful In Team Under New Manager

Alexander-Arnold is confident that the club’s culture won’t alter in spite of Klopp’s departure, despite the change in the dugout.

He continued: “The new manager is going to come in and change the way we play, and it’ll be a different culture and different messages, but as long as the mentality to win, the eagerness to win and the internal pressure within ourselves and the demand to win things and be in a title race next season, no matter who the manager is, then we’ll be fine.”

“We strive to achieve that goal for ourselves. Although the outcomes may not align with our expectations, as long as we have the right mindset and the dressing room feels motivated to succeed, we will succeed.”
