Liverpool have reportedly entered the race to sign Bayer Leverkusen defender, Jeremie Frimpong with Manchester United said to be interested.
The 23-year-old has been having an incredible season under Xabi Alonso’s leadership, with 12 goals and 10 assists in 35 appearances across all competitions.
Frimpong has been a vital part of the German club’s incredible season, and it appears that several major English clubs, including Man Utd and Liverpool, have expressed interest in signing him.
Leverkusen are leading a title charge this campaign and are also in the running for the Europa League and DFB Pokal.
According to Football Insider as reported by Football Talk, Liverpool are “keen” to sign Frimpong, and they may make a formal offer before the start of the 2024–25 season. The report also states that the fullback’s current contract has a £35 million release clause. And the Merseyside club believes that signing the Leverkusen star for this amount would be a “bargain.”
The story also claims that United are also preparing a move for Frimpong and are ready to give Liverpool fierce competition in order to complete any possible deal for him.

Although Erik ten Hag prefers to play with a back-four, Frimpong has excelled in his career at Leverkusen as a wing-back.
As such, the Netherlands international might not be the best addition to the Red Devils as they look to bolster their defense.
