In the first leg of their heavyweight Champions League last-16 tie, Liverpool snatched a late winner to beat Paris Saint-Germain away 1-0 on Wednesday, while Bayern Munich took charge with a 3-0 win over German rivals Bayer Leverkusen. French league leaders PSG dominated at the Parc des Princes but could not make their superiority count, and Harvey Elliott struck three minutes from time after replacing Mohamed Salah with Liverpool’s only shot on target.
Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker made several key saves as PSG had 28 shots on goal but were unable to duplicate the finishing that had allowed them to score 21 goals in their previous five Champions League games.
“It was probably the best performance of my life,” Alisson told TNT Sports.
“To go away with a win over here was probably a bit more than we deserved,” says Slot.
Liverpool might face Aston Villa in the quarter-finals if they finish the job at home next Tuesday, but PSG boss Luis Enrique insisted his team has “nothing to lose”.

“We clearly deserved to win because we created so many chances,” added the Spaniard. “Football is unfair many times and you have to accept that.”
Jamal Musiala added a second early in the second half after Leverkusen goalkeeper Matej Kovar allowed a simple delivery into the area from Joshua Kimmich slide through his fingers.
Bayern lost Manuel Neuer to injury before Leverkusen’s night got much worse as Nordi Mukiele was sent off.
Kane completed the scoring from the penalty spot following a VAR review after being impeded by Edmond Tapsoba.
“It was a huge step in the right direction.” “We’ve struggled against this side in the last few years,” Kane told DAZN.
