There has been conjecture that La Liga heavyweights Real Madrid may attempt to lure him to the Bernabeu on a free transfer, but Alexander-Arnold appears to be doing some business on his own soon enough.
According to L’Equipe (via Get Football News France), Alexander-Arnold ‘wants to become the owner of Nantes’ in France ‘via an English investment fund managed by his father’.
They believe Kylian Mbappe is ‘inspiring’ footballers to become club owners after the Real Madrid star recently purchased 80 percent of Ligue 2 team Stade Malherbe Caen.
And Mbappe ‘may soon see one of his international colleagues imitate him,’ with Liverpool defender Alexander-Arnold, who is currently a minority partner in French Formula 1 side Alpine F1 side, interested in purchasing Nantes after submitting a €100 million (£80 million) bid.
Waldemar Kita, the French investor who has controlled Nantes since 2007, has supposedly grown ‘weary of the sporting and financial challenges suffered by the Loire-Atlantique side’.
“You said he shouldn’t play in the midfield. I couldn’t believe how much he knew about football history over the last 20-25 years, how many games he watched, and how invested he was.
“Perhaps I shouldn’t have been startled, but I couldn’t believe it. He was quite inquisitive.”
