Liverpool Star In Talks To Join Saudi Arabia Club On Free Transfer

Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino has reportedly become the  latest player to be offered a move to the Saudi Pro League.

Throughout June, there has been increased talk about players heading to one of four Saudi clubs partially funded by the Public Investment Fund (PIF).

Al-Ittihad, Al-Nassr, Al-Hilal, and Al-Ahli have the financial means to offer large sums of money to the world’s greatest players.

Champions Al-Ittihad have signed N’Golo Kante and Karim Benzema, while Hakim Ziyech is set to join Cristiano Ronaldo at Al-Nassr and Kalidou Koulibaly has joined Al-Hilal.

However, newly promoted Al-Ahli look set to challenge last season’s top three, with Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy on the verge of becoming their first big acquisition.

More players are expected to follow the Senegal international, with Manchester City playmaker Riyad Mahrez also being linked, but it looks that Al-Ahli have another star in mind.

According to transfer experts Fabrizio Romano, talks with Firmino have started in order to secure the services of the leaving Liverpool attacker.

However Firmino has a slew of admirers, with Real Madrid and Barcelona both expressing interest at a time when they both need a new center-forward and could benefit from acquiring free agents.

Nevertheless it is claimed that Firmino is really considering moving to the Middle East, an opportunity that would allow him to become a major player in a squad trying to reclaim their former position in Saudi Arabia.

Al-Ahli won the Saudi Pro League in 2017-18 and were a regular in the AFC Champions League until the 2020-21 season.
