Liverpool midfielder, Thiago Alcantara has been ruled out for the rest of the season as he is set to undergo surgery on a hip injury.
According to Liverpool Echo, the Spaniard will not be available for Liverpool’s remaining Premier League games against Fulham, Brentford, Leicester City, Aston Villa, and Southampton. This is as a result of the decision to have surgery.
Due to a variety of fitness issues, the 32-year-old has already missed a sizable amount of games this season. After pulling up with a hamstring injury during the Fulham game in August. He missed six weeks of action before being out for two months between February and April due to hip flexor issues.
The former Bayern Munich midfielder, who moved to Anfield in the summer of 2020, will join his compatriot Stefan Bajcetic in the recovery area. This is after the 18-year-old suffered a similar injury and was ruled out for the remainder of the season.
The news broke out the next day after the Reds’ Champions League loss to Real Madrid on March 16.
Diogo Jota, Roberto Firmino, and Naby Keita won’t be available for the Reds’ Premier League match against Fulham on Wednesday. According to Jurgen Klopp, who made the announcement on Tuesday afternoon.
