Liverpool Star’s Response To New Contract At Anfield Raises Concerns

The lack of major additions to strengthen the team has left Liverpool supporters disappointed with the January transfer season thus far.

Three key players: Trent Alexander-Arnold, Mohamed Salah, and Vigil van Dijk have unsettled contracts, which increases the risk that they may leave for free at the conclusion of the season.

Virgil van DIjk has reportedly signed to a new two-year contract, however this has not been confirmed by an official source.

Ibrahima Konate, Van Dijk’s center-back partner, is one of the players given priority for new contracts.

Konate’s current agreement is scheduled to expire in the summer of next year.

The French defender, who is still an important part of Liverpool’s first squad, recently disclosed that the team had extended an offer to him, but he worrisomely declined to say if he was near to accepting it.

Fabrizio Romano on X cited Konate as saying:

“It’s true, I’ve been offered a new contract by Liverpool.

Am I close to signing it? That’s another conversation!”

The 25-year-old center-back has made 22 appearances in all competitions this season, helping to score two goals and provide an assist, reports Caughtoffside

When he missed eight games earlier in the season due to a knee injury, it highlighted how important he is to the squad.
