After losing 1-0 at Aston Villa the previous weekend, Arsenal defeated Brighton & Hove Albion 2-0 on Sunday to reclaim the top spot in the Premier League standings.
According to Football London, Goals from Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz in the second half maintained the Gunners’ strong recent performance. Following their draw with Crystal Palace, Manchester City is now five points ahead of the reigning champions.
Arsenal finished the week at the top of the standings after Liverpool’s subpar performance against Manchester United later in the day resulted in a 0-0 draw at Anfield. Although many had predicted Jurgen Klopp’s team to destroy their fiercest rivals, the Red Devils played strong defense and silenced players like Mohamed Salah.
Many have predicted that the Gunners will be Man City’s only rivals for the Premier League title in the second half of the season after the team’s performance over the weekend. But the trip to Merseyside the following weekend will be a major test for Arteta’s men.

Arsenal has not triumphed at Anfield since 2012, and the 2-2 draw from the previous season is considered to be among the games that cost them the title in April. Although the traditional Christmas meal is expected to be delicious, Klopp and Liverpool have already taken an early loss.
At Anfield, midfielder Ryan Gravenberch was substituted in the 61st minute. “We’ll see. It was definitely not ‘bam’ because they told me straight after the game that it got worse during the game,” Klopp stated.
“He felt a little but didn’t appear right away. Though we thought it would pass, it didn’t. The ball was played with such an intense spirit that it ended with a collision on the 18-yard line.
