According to Spanish publication Fichajes, Liverpool is’very keen’ in signing Real Sociedad attacker Takefusa Kubo.
Since transferring to Reale Arena from Real Madrid in 2022, the 23-year-old has thrived in La Liga. He helped his side qualify for the Champions League by finishing in the top four in his debut season.
Furthermore, the Japanese international helped his team qualify for the Europa League last season. He has had a quiet season this season, but he still demonstrated his abilities against his previous team Real Madrid in the Copa del Rey semi-final at Estadio Santiago Bernabéu on Tuesday night.
He contributed an assist, and Real Sociedad eventually tied the game 4-4 after extra time. Los Blancos eventually won the match 5-4 on aggregate.
Fichajes now claims that after being impressed by the forward’s recent displays, the Merseyside club is’very interested’ in retaining his services. The Reds believe Kubo is suited for playing in the Premier League and have designated him as a ‘priority’ target to strengthen the frontline.

Kubo to Liverpool.
Real Sociedad have no intention of letting their top player depart, as his current contract is slated to run until 2029. However, they believe it will be tough to maintain him if Liverpool formalises their interest, given he supposedly has a £50 million release clause in his present deal.
Kubo is a left-footed right winger who, like Mohamed Salah, has been Liverpool’s uncontested starter on the right side of the front three. However, his time with the club appears to be coming to an end, since his current contract expires at the conclusion of this season.
The Egyptian is regarded as one of the best players in the world, so losing him for free would be a major setback for Liverpool. Salah’s likely exit would be a double blow, since Trent Alexander-Arnold is expected to leave as a free agent.
Kubo is still extremely young and has a lot of potential, so he might be a great addition to Liverpool if they buy him. However, his production has not been very high in recent years.
Having previously failed to sign Martin Zubimendi from La Real, it is unclear whether the Merseyside club will be able to obtain Kobo’s services if they make a formal approach.
