Liverpool defense will be tested on Thursday night in the UEFA Europa League quarterfinal by Ademola Lookman and Gianluca Scamacca.
This week, the Reds take on the Italians in the first of two legs with the goal of ending the tie as soon as possible.
On Merseyside, though, the visitors have had success before. In 2020, they defeated Klopp’s Liverpool team at Anfield by a score of two goals to nil. However, Diogo Jota’s hat-trick helped Liverpool win 0–5 in Bergamo in the comparable match.

2017 saw them put Everton to the test once more, winning 1–5 at Goodison Park.
Nigel Mannering, an Atalanta supporter from England who hosts Atalanta BC News, is quite confident heading into the game.
“The majority of the team is here, and the surroundings are not strange, but some of the key players from when we last won are not here. When there were no supporters present, the game was played quite differently. Although the atmosphere at Anfield is legendary, we are confident after the previous outcome.
“If you look at the other game a few years back, we actually got beat 0-5 at home. We have that knowledge of getting a result at Anfield, but the circumstances were different. It is intriguing, let’s be honest, I’ve seen Liverpool put three or four goals past teams at Anfield in a very short space of time. It’s not impossible that the tie is out of reach after 30 or 40 minutes. If we lost 1-0 at Anfield and went back to Italy still in the game, I’d be really happy with that.”
