Liverpool Warned They Will Spend A Fortune On Exciting Midfield Player

Liverpool’s pursuit of Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder, Manu Kone looks to have hit a brick as the player’s manager claimed it would cost a fortune to sell him.

Ronald Virkus, the manager of the German club, has cautioned that the club would need to receive an “immense offer” before even considering moving the midfielder this summer.

The gifted 22-year-old has been the focus of rumors suggesting he might join Jurgen Klopp’s rebuilding efforts at Anfield.

At the Under-21 European Championships in June, Kone suffered a knee injury while featuring for France. He is yet to return to full training.

As a result, speculation about a high-profile transfer away from Borussia Park has not materialized. But he is still on the Reds’ radar.

In a discussion with Bild via the Liverpool Echo, Virkus emphasized that Monchengladbach feel pressured to sell their valuable asset before the deadline of September 1.

“We don’t have to sell him,” said Virkus. “But if there is another immense offer, then we have to think about it. However, our plan is to keep Kone.

“Kone is a player who has something different, he gives you as a team a better balance in midfield.

“He’s coming back after the international break and he’s very important to us, a tough and intelligent footballer. We need stability in this position.”

Kone’s current contract has two more years to run. Last season, he featured in 31 games for Monchengladbach across all competitions, scoring once.
