Inter Milan defender, Alessandro Bastoni will reportedly sign for Liverpool if Virgil van Dijk leaves as the Italian is seen as a long-term replacement for the Netherlands international.
It appears more likely that Liverpool will acquire a new center-back regardless of Van Dijk’s departure. Along with Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mohamed Salah, the Dutchman’s contract expires at the end of the current campaign, although many people think he will stay.
Football Insider is the most recent source to indicate that a new center-back will be added, either to play alongside Van Dijk or to replace him.

The report claim that regardless of Van Dijk’s future, a deal is being considered to strengthen the defense, and Bastoni of Inter is clearly among the top targets because of his age, experience, and talent, which all check many boxes.
In fact, Bastoni is already regarded as one of the best center backs in the world at the age of 25, and Liverpool are said to see him as Van Dijk’s long-term replacement. It is thought that he would immediately boost Anfield’s starting lineup.
Liverpool will need to give up at least £60 million in order for that to occur. The report’s headline claims that a £60 million bid “will be accepted,” yet the first line goes on to indicate that the Reds will have to pay “upwards” of that amount.
The precise number may vary, but it appears that somewhere in that range should be adequate.
