Lombard leads by one in Sun City

Zander Lombard will take a one-shot lead into the final round of the Nedbank Challenge, with Saturday’s level-par 72 seeing him sit on 11-under par. The 24-year-old South African, seeking his maiden European Tour triumph, led by two strokes at the halfway point after Friday’s sizzling 65, but now has the narrowest of advantage over compatriot Louis Oosthuizen and Belgium’s Thomas Detry with just 18 holes to go. Lombard mixed four birdies with two bogeys and a double-bogey at Gary Player County Club, while Oosthuizen’s 71 and a 69 by Detry means it is all to play for on Sunday. England’s Oliver Wilson and Marcus Kinhult of Sweden share fourth place on -8 while six players, including defending champion Lee Westwood plus Race to Dubai leader Bernd Wiesberger, reached six-under after 54 holes. The course played tough on Saturday and it is likely to be the same during the final round, meaning the player who can hold his nerve and dig deep is likely to walk away with the riches on offer in the Rolex Series event.
