Spain head coach, Luis de la Fuente publicly lamented last week that he still had no formal offer from the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) and that he had no new contract since winning Euro 2024.
The 63-year-old exceeded all expectations by winning La Roja’s first major trophy since Euro 2012. Over the previous year, he has been promised a number of pay raises.
However, the RFEF did not take well to de la Fuente’s demands, and according to Cadena SER, they met with the coach in August.
The federation talked about giving the coach additional interview opportunities and improving the coach’s contract. At the same time, it was made public last week that he had signed a deal that would extend until 2026.
De la Fuente’s current annual salary of just over €1 million is significantly less than that of his predecessors, Luis Enrique and Julen Lopetegui, who were paid more than three times as much.
According to Football Espana, De la Fuente feels that the RFEF has not appreciated his work and, after several assurances, now wants to see written agreements from them.

Although it appears improbable that any conflict would result in Spain and the former Alaves manager parting ways. His annoyance may not be alleviated for a while because the RFEF is being run by an interim committee.
It is obvious that de la Fuente’s negotiating strength is at its highest right after his triumph in Germany.
