Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has revealed that Luis Diaz has suffered a setback in his recovery from a knee injury and will leave the club’s winter training camp in Dubai.
The Colombia international has been out since sustaining the injury against Arsenal on October 9, missing the Reds’ past ten games in all competitions.
Diaz was expected to be out until after the World Cup break, but he made good progress in his recovery and traveled to the Middle East for a warm-weather training camp.
Is Luis Diaz Injured?
Liverpool earned a major boost in the 25-year-fitness old’s earlier this week, when he was ready to return to training ahead of Sunday’s Dubai Super Cup clash with Lyon.
However, according to reports on Friday, Diaz had a setback in his recovery, and Klopp has now delivered the sad news that the former Porto star will not return as planned.
Klopp revealed to liverpoolfc.com that Diaz “felt something” that needed to be assessed, and the attacker was unable to train with his teammates on Thursday or Friday.
“It’s all good [fitness-wise] with the boys who are here. What’s not good is we have to see with Lucho. He felt something and we need to have further assessment there, but apart from that they all look really, really good,” Klopp said.
According to The Athletic, Diaz has left the Liverpool camp in Dubai after complaining of pain in the same knee where he had his catastrophic injury, and he will undergo scans in the UK.

Diaz made an immediate impact at Liverpool after coming from Porto in January for a fee of £50m, winning the FA Cup and EFL Cup in his debut season under Klopp.
The Colombian has 10 goals and eight assists in 38 matches for the Merseyside giants in all tournaments, including four goals and three assists in 12 games this season.
