Luis Suarez Offers Message Of Support To Darwin Nunez After Copa America Defeat

Former Liverpool striker Luis Suarez sent  a note of encouragement after Darwin Nunez’s heroics at Copa America.

The Uruguayan pair lost 1-0 to Colombia in the semifinals, ending their hopes of leading La Celeste to victory in America.

While Luis Diaz’s side fell to Argentina and Reds colleague Alexis Mac Allister in the championship match, Marcelo Biesla’s squad finished third in the competition.

After replacing Nunez after halftime, former striker Suarez scored a stoppage-time equalizer to help Uruguay defeat Canada on penalties.

The 25-year-old will now take a vacation from football while Arne Slot becomes comfortable in his new position as head coach.

The Reds will travel throughout the United States in order to prepare for August’s Premier League season opener against Ipswich Town.

Nunez made his social media debut on Tuesday, the first since foul scenes marred the Copa America semifinal matchup with Colombia.

He shared the following on Instagram: “My first Copa America. We are glad for the experiences, lessons learnt, and shared memories, but sad that we were unable to advance to the final.

Let’s keep going, Uruguay, forever!”

Luis Suarez, was among many who sent supportive remarks ahead of his impending Premier League campaign with the Reds, reports Liverpool Echo.
