At the end of 2023, the former Barcelona player signed a one-year contract with the MLS team in Florida.
Suarez was already planning to end a stellar career for club and country when he turned 38 in the first few weeks of 2025.
The Barcelona reunion at the club after Lionel Messi’s transfer last summer continues with his presence in Miami.
Despite having previously indicated that he has no interest in an extension, Suarez’s contract has a clause that allows him to stay for an additional 12 months, reports Football Espana.
Inter Miami has already advanced to the MLS Cup playoffs later this year, increasing his chances of extending his club career after retiring from Uruguay service.
“I know my lawyer is talking to the club, but with the peace of mind of finishing the season. It is the club’s decision, but for my part, I would be delighted to stay.”
Inter Miami are happy to offer Suarez another year, with his goal scoring record as sharp as ever, with 22 scored in all competitions since the start of 2024.
