Luka Modric Rejects Saudi Offer To Stay At Real Madrid

Luka Modric is reportedly set to reject offers from the Saudi Pro League in order to stay at Real Madrid, despite being offered an enormous salary to move to the Middle East.

The 37-year-old was a major member of Los Blancos’ squad in his 11th season with the club after signing from Tottenham Hotspur in 2012. He appeared in 33 La Liga matches.

With Real Madrid, he has won five Champions League titles and three league titles, and he is said to have sparked interest from outside Europe ahead of the summer transfer season.

However, according to Marca, Modric wants to stay at Real Madrid and eventually retire at the Bernabeu, which means he will turn down Al Ahly’s demands for his services.

The Saudi club are said to be willing to offer Modric a contract of £68m per year, which is seven times more than his current agreement with Carlo Ancelotti’s side.

Despite the lucrative offer being offered to him, the report claims that the midfielders wants to compete at the highest level of football until his retirement.

Modric, 37, is determined to stay in Madrid for another year to fulfill a long-held ambition. He wants to leave elite football at the club where he has five Champions League titles and experience the rebuilt Estadio Santiago Bernabeu firsthand.

However, the offer from Arabia would make anyone reconsider.

In any case, Modric is currently resisting the ‘pressure’ of Arab football, which is being fueled by a seemingly endless infusion of funds from the country’s government, which is desperate to boost its national league and host the 2030 World Cup, following in the footsteps of Qatar, one of its main regional rivals.
