Three players of Lagos-based side, Madiba FC are set to begin the next phase of their career when they team up with their respective European clubs in time for the new league season.
The trio of defender Kamal Mohammed, Oyetumbi Olalekan who plays in attack as well as Samson Emordi, a midfielder, will depart the country in the next two weeks after their paperwork was successfully processed by the club.
Adebisi Adeyemi, proprietress of the high-flying club who revealed this to isoccerng.com, also revealed that another player would be on his way to Moldova. This brings to eight the number of players who have been successfully transferred abroad in the last one year.
“We thank God that these players are about to start a new chapter in their career and we are proud to be associated with their progress. Madiba FC will always put the interest of the players first because their success is equally to the club’s glory,” she said.
The proprietress also revealed that plans are in the pipeline to embark on a closed camping as well as intensive training as the club prepares to participate in an international tournament before the end of the year.
She said: “We have several offers to participate in tournaments abroad but we have carefully selected one and we have already started serious preparation in order to represent Nigeria well because we’re not going there just to participate. When we register for a competition, it is because we know we can win it.”
As part of preparation for the upcoming international trip, Madiba FC defeated Utility Sport FC of Ebute Metta 2-1 in a thrilling friendly match watched by a capacity crowd on Thursday morning at the Nigerian Railways playground, Ebute Metta.
Despite being the away team, Madiba swarmed on their opponents from the blast of the whistle, playing delightful passes to the admiration of the spectators.
Madiba lost a chance to go in front when they missed a penalty but that early setback did not dampen their enthusiasm and the opening goal was not long in coming when Peter Otunla ended a beautiful move which started from midfield.
10 minutes later, the dazzling boys were two goals up after Hassan Kehinde’s direct free-kick dipped and went in off the upright.
From then on it was Madiba all the way although Utility Sport scored a goal late in the second half, it was just a consolation before the referee ended the game.
