Mainoo Sparks Fear As He Postpones Man United Contract Talks

Manchester United teenage sensation, Kobbie Mainoo has reportedly postponed his contract talks with the club until after the 2024 European Championship.

This season, Mainoo has come of age and emerged as one of English football’s rising stars. Additionally, United’s management aim to guarantee the midfielder’s long-term future by granting him a contract that will quadruple his weekly salary to £80,000.

According to the Daily Star, Mainoo has accepted the offer in principle, he would like to postpone talks until after this season’s Euro finals in Germany.

Gareth Southgate’s provisional squad includes the 19-year-old, who is predicted to make the cut when the England manager announces his final one next week.

Furthermore, Mainoo informed United that he would prefer to prioritize his international obligations before signing a new contract ahead of the upcoming campaign.

One of the top priorities for Sir Jim Ratcliffe, the new investor in United, is to get Mainoo to sign a new deal that will keep him at Old Trafford.

Although the starlet only signed a new contract in February that extends until 2026. United want to reward him with another one that matches his status in the team because of his remarkable growth and progress.

Despite only making his first Premier League start in November, Mainoo put in several outstanding performances to solidify his spot in the United squad.

He was first included in Southgate’s Three Lions squad in March, and at the age of 18, he made his debut when he came on as a substitute in England’s 1-0 loss to Brazil.
