Swansea City have confirmed that former Real Madrid and Chelsea midfielder Claude Makelele has joined Paul Clement’s coaching team.
Makelele, 43, was widely regarded as one of the best defensive midfielders to have ever played the game due to the way he protected his defence and then quickly distributed the ball to other more attack-minded players.
But Swansea City have today confirmed that Makelele has reunited with Clement after the duo worked alongside each other during their time together at Chelsea and then at Paris Saint-Germain.

The club have also announced that the 43-year-old’s official title is Assistant Coach and he will work alongside Clement’s new coaching recruits Nigel Gibbs, Karl Halabi and goalkeeping coach Tony Roberts.
Makelele will be on the bench for Swansea’s Premier League clash against Arsenal on Saturday.
The Swans have seriously struggled for form this season and find themselves in 19th position in the Premier League with just four wins from their opening 20 games of the campaign.
