Omar Marmoush, 25, has scored 20 goals in 26 appearances across all competitions this season.
Marmoush has agreed to a contract that will keep him at the Etihad until 2029.
With this deal, City will have spent about £150 million in the past week as they attempt to halt their current downward trend, which has them in fifth place in the Premier League standings.
Following his team’s crushing 4-2 Champions League loss to Paris Saint-Germain last night, Pep Guardiola will welcome the news.
This season, Marmoush, 25, has made 26 appearances in all competitions and scored 20 goals, reports Daily Star.
However, Man City has to acknowledge that he still lags behind his countryman Mohamed Salah and Liverpool’s goal machine in terms of his reputation in Egypt, the Premier League, and even international football.
Salah is known as the “Egyptian King,” and City’s official X account acknowledged this by posting pictures of Marmoush signing his contract with the description, “City’s Egyptian Prince,” and emojis of a crown and an Egyptian flag.
Liverpool supporters posted pictures of their iconic winger in response, as was to be expected. One fan of the league leaders wrote: “Called him prince since there’s already a king? Excellent performance. One more person stated: “There is one Egyptian king in England.”
