Man City Agrees To Bring Back 60-Goal Superstar; Pep Guardiola Convinced Him To Return

As previously reported, Ilkay Gundogan has two alternatives for his next move, with Barcelona now willing to let the German midfielder leave Camp Nou on a free transfer.

The choice was between a move to Turkish giants Fenerbahce and a return to Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City, and it appears that the temptation of playing for Pep Guardiola was too strong to resist.

According to HITC, Premier League champion City and Ilkay Gundogan have agreed on terms for his return to the Etihad.

HITC can reveal that Guardiola met with the German midfielder over the weekend after learning that he was planning to depart, and that he told the club’s administration that they should bring him back.

Gundogan appeared 304 times for City, scoring 60 goals and providing 38 assists, as the German midfielder helped the Citizens win the treble in 2022/23.

Gundogan signs a one-year deal with City.

Following talks with the Premier League champions, Gundogan has agreed to sign a one-year contract at the Etihad Stadium, with an option for another year.

Barcelona wants the transaction completed by the weekend so that they can sign Gundogan off his hefty salary, allowing them to sign Dani Olmo, among other things.

The Spanish team signed Olmo earlier this summer, but due to financial troubles at the club, Barcelona is yet to register their big-money signing.

As for Gundogan, it appears like City will welcome back one of their modern-day icons as they seek to make it five Premier League titles in a row.
