Manchester City have reportedly identified Erling Haaland potential back-up after Julian Alvarez completed his move to Atletico Madrid this summer.
According to The Athletic as reported by Goal, Copenhagen striker, Orri Oskarsson has been “high on the list” of targets City have been considering in order to improve their front-line options. The 19-year-old Iceland international is seen as having “firm admirers” in the Premier League champions.
Oskarsson featured against City in a Champions League match last season. He has scored seven goals in his first 11 appearances for Copenhagen in 2024–25.
Oskarsson is anticipated to sign before the looming transfer deadline. The Cityzens are believed to have expressed interest in him.
However, the same claim from The Athletic implies the Premier League champions won’t immediately launch a formal offer. That might help other English teams as well, as Porto and Real Sociedad stand to gain from Oskarsson’s €20 million (£17 million; $22 million) valuation plus add-ons.
After selling Alvarez to Atleti for an excessive sum, City have been hesitant to spend heavily on his replacement. With the aim of focusing on replacing the Argentine from within, Guardiola has elevated Oscar Bobb and James McAtee, albeit the former will miss the next few months due to a fractured leg.
