Manchester City are reportedly planning for life without talismanic midfielder, Kevin De Bruyne following a series of injury sustained by the Belgian in recent years.
According to Dutch outlet Voetbal Primeur as reported by Four Four Two, City have identified Paris Saint-Germain midfielder, Xavi Simons as a possible replacement for De Bruyne.
A second season-long loan to RB Leipzig is underway for the 21-year-old, who made an impression for the Netherlands at Euro 2024. However, this move is not expected to be permanent next summer. So his future will be in question as he is reportedly reluctant to go back to the French champions.
According to the report, City are interested in Simons and view him as a possible De Bruyne replacement.
Both Manchester United and Liverpool are keeping an eye on Simons, presumably thinking that the Dutch managers in the dugouts at Anfield and Old Trafford will aid in their pursuit of the midfielder.
Simons has already demonstrated a great deal of promise in his short career thus far, as seen by the fact that he has won 22 internationals before the age of 21. He is presently valued at €80 million by Transfermarkt.

It is appropriate for City to consider what will come after De Bruyne and to closely monitor players fitting this description in the upcoming months.
However, as the Premier League champions try to improve on De Bruyne while adding depth and talent, City’s rebuild may be the most interesting.
