Guardiola will probably feel the need to bolster his team even further in order to return City to its previous glory, even if they are unquestionably playing at their best level of the season.

City’s January transfer business seems to be finished after spending a total of £123 million this month on Vitor Reis, Abdukodir Khusanov, and Omar Marmoush.

Journalist Christian Falk claims that the team is already making plans for the summer and that Xavi Simons, a midfielder for RB Leipzig, is a top target.

The Dutchman turned on a return to the French capital because he was worried that boss Luis Enrique wouldn’t give him playing time, and instead signed a permanent contract with Leipzig from PSG earlier this month.

According to Falk, Leipzig would be willing to sell him at the end of the season for a price between £59 million and £67 million, even if they have just recently signed him permanently, reports Football Fancast.

City are keeping tabs, claims Falk, but will have competition from Manchester United and Liverpool, who are also interested in the midfielder.
