Man City Reach Transfer Agreement With Al Hilal For Cancelo

Manchester City have reportedly agreed a £21.2 million fee with Al Hilal for Joao Cancelo.

According to The Independent, 19 months after his last game for City, the Portugal international is poised to finalize his departure with personal terms yet to be agreed.

Cancelo was loaned to Bayern Munich for the second part of the 2022–2023 season before being taken on by Barcelona for the previous campaign.

After being selected for both the 2020–21 and 2021–22 Premier League teams, the 30-year-old swiftly lost favor at City. The Premier League champions believed that he may cause problems in the dressing room after he lost his spot.

With his departure, City will have earned about £150 million in summer sales this summer, meeting the profit and sustainability requirements set by the Premier League.

The most profitable transfer was Julian Alvarez’s £82 million move to Atletico Madrid. Further profits were also obtained with the sales of Micah Hamilton, Tommy Doyle, Liam Delap, Taylor Harwood-Bellis, and Sergio Gomez.

Al Hilal, in meanwhile, acquired Ruben Neves, Cancelo’s Portugal teammate last year in addition to Neymar, Yassine Bounou, Kalidou Koulibaly, and Aleksandar Mitrovic.
