Manchester City are reportedly prepared to make a substantial bid of €80 million to seal the signing of Bayern Munich defender, Alphonso Davies.
According to a Spanish publication Fichajes as reported by CaughtOffside, City are interested in Davies, who is also a summer target for Real Madrid.
The defending Premier League champions, though, are willing to shell out €80 million to sign the 23-year-old. Los Blancos, on the other hand, have declared that they will not spend more than €50 million.
Alphonso Davies has improved steadily since joining Bayern in January 2019 after departing the Vancouver Whitecaps. He was a gifted young winger when he arrived at the Allianz Arena. But in the last few years, he has worked hard to establish himself as one of the Bundesliga’s best defenders.
Davies’s current Bayern contract is set to expire in the summer of 2025. The Bavarian giants might be convinced to sell him to City, who are prepared to pay a higher transfer fee. This will come down to their inability to sign him to a long-term deal.
Madrid are keen to bolster the left side of their defense. Davies’ acquisition could therefore aid Los Blancos in resolving a major issue.
Josko Gvardiol, who joined Manchester City in the summer, has primarily filled the left back position for the league winners.

Nonetheless, manager Pep Guardiola has preferred to use players like Nathan Ake, Ruben Dias, and Manuel Akanji in central defense, where the Croatian is most comfortable.
None of the left-backs that Guardiola has used in recent seasons—Benjamin Mendy, Nathan Ake, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Josko Gvardiol, and Manuel Akanji—have been able to establish themselves as starters.
