Man City Set To Rival Liverpool, Man United For €80M Attacker

Manchester City have reportedly joined Liverpool and Manchester United in the race to sign RB Leipzig attacking midfielder, Xavi Simons.

Although the Netherlands international has long appeared to be one of the most promising young players in world football, he has struggled to make a name for himself at Paris Saint-Germain and has instead been sent on loan to Leipzig.

According to Spanish publication Fichajes as reported by Caught Offside, Simons is now firmly in the sights of Man City. And it is still possible that he will eventually draw interest from bigger clubs.

This comes after Voetbal Primeur recently reported that Simons, who is valued at about €80 million, could get offers from teams like Liverpool and Man United.

Simons moving to the Premier League for the next phase of his career would undoubtedly be exciting.

A player like Simons would be a good long-term replacement for the aging playmaker Kevin De Bruyne, and Pep Guardiola’s wildly successful project would undoubtedly interest him.

However, Simons might also be wise to team up with fellow Dutchman Arne Slot, who is leading Liverpool admirably as manager thus far and has the Reds firmly back in the running for the Premier League title.

Even though the Red Devils are still a well-known team in the world of football and have a long and illustrious history, United arguably aren’t the ideal choice for the young Dutchman right now.
