Manchester United are poised to confirm the signing of Zlatan Ibrahimovic on a one-year deal.
Sky Sports are reporting that the Swedish superstar will become Jose Mourinho’s first signing when the move is officially confirmed in the coming days.
Ibrahimovic is reportedly set to sign his new mega-money deal before the start of the European Championship, meaning that United fans could see him in the club’s colours sooner rather than later.
The experienced striker is set to leave Paris Saint-Germain when his contract expires at the end of the month.
Ibrahimovic has remained coy over questions about his future during the build-up to the Euros.
The 34-year-old has been linked with moves to a host of Premier League clubs, while offers from China have also been taken into consideration.
However, during a recent press conference, Ibrahimovic kept his cards close to his chest.
He said: “I want you to still write a lot of stories, so I get excited when I see them, because I want to see who is making up the best story.
“When I’m tired of it, I’ll let you know where I will go.”
Malmo had been linked with a sensational move for the frontman, who started his career at the Swedbank Stadium before he joined Ajax in 2004.
However, Ibrahimovic poured cold water on the rumours, adding: “I’m still not interested in the Allsvenskan (Swedish league). I’m too good for the Allsvenskan.”
Meanwhile, United are believed to have snubbed the signing of Jamie Vardy to help Marcus Rashford develop.
Club chiefs did not want to bring in the England international because they feel his arrival would hinder the progress of their youth sensation.
Vardy’s release clause was activated by Arsenal on Friday evening.
Rashford and Vardy are currently together preparing for Euro 2016 which starts next week.
