Manchester United are reportedly set to make a move for Bayern Munich forward, Thomas Muller with Raphael Varane moving in the opposite direction in a swap deal.
This season, Varane has fallen out of favor at United. Albeit Lisandro Martinez hasn’t started a Premier League game since September, after being sidelined due to a foot injury.
Varane is behind Harry Maguire, Jonny Evans, and Victor Lindelof in the order of prominence. The former Real Madrid man is now upset over not getting more playing time.
Last week, Sky Sport Germany reported that United would be open to selling Varane in January for the appropriate price. The Red Devils would cash in anywhere from £17.4 million to £26 million for the 2018 World Cup winner.
Varane’s wages and transfer fee may be a deterrent for Bayern, despite their desire to get him to the Allianz Arena. To lower the price, they can try to work out a swap agreement.
According to German publication Bild as reported by Daily Express, Muller may be targeted by United as he doesn’t get enough playing time under Thomas Tuchel. Muller, who has spent his whole career at Bayern is out of contract at the end of this season.
This season, the 34-year-old has only started four Bundesliga games and played 329 minutes in his ten outings combined. He is committed to playing at the best level possible even if it isn’t at the Bundesliga giants.

According to FCB Inside, Tuchel will probably press for a January transfer for Varane in order to bolster his defensive options even more.
Since Muller is one of Bayern’s higher earners, his salary would be discarded from the wage bill. Freeing up funds for Tuchel to sign a new player.
