Despite the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, Man United has announced that its Europa League match against Sheriff will still take place on Thursday.
With matches being canceled in the wake of the Queen’s passing, United has chosen to go through with the scheduled encounter against the Moldovan team. This decision was made after consultations with the relevant authorities.
This weekend’s Premier League clash with Crystal Palace has already been canceled, with many more canceled across the United Kingdom out of respect for the late Queen.

However, Man United’s European match would go on as scheduled. A statement read: “Following discussions with the relevant governing bodies and in line with guidance issued by the UK Government, we can confirm our UEFA Europa League fixture against FC Sheriff will take place as scheduled on Thursday evening in Moldova.”
Man United will have a full week to prepare for the match in Chisinau.
They will attempt to bounce back from their 1-0 defeat to Real Sociedad. They lost against the Spanish side in the opening Europa League match on Thursday.

United’s journey to Moldova will serve as their next game due to the cancellation of football games in the UK. They will then play Leeds in the Premier League at Old Trafford after that.
