Man United Consider Paying More Than Top Target’s Release Clause

Due to a complex sell-on clause, Manchester United may need to spend significantly more than Francisco Trincao’s release clause in order to bring in the Sporting Lisbon star.

Ruben Amorim is eager to get back together with the player he coached in Portugal and is certain he would fit in well in the Premier League following a brief period at Wolves.

Viktor Gyokeres is one of the top players that Sporting are expected to lose. They are therefore willing to be rigid and want far more than the rumoured £50 million release clause in Trincao’s contract.

According to The Sun, the 25-year-old, who joined from Barcelona, will fetch the Spanish powerhouses half of his future sell-on fee, limiting Sporting’s potential to receive maximum funds.

After Barcelona take their part, Amorim’s previous team may need to sell for at least £70 million, as they are asking £35 million.

Sporting are prepared to extend Trincao’s contract in an attempt to keep him on board, but the allure of returning to England might be too much.

Lack of money will be the Red Devils’ problem unless they can qualify for the Champions League by winning the Europa League. If it doesn’t occur, the team will have the lowest Premier League finish ever, which will affect their summer plans.

Despite continuous expenditure in recent years, United are in dire need of a revamp. However, if no silverware is claimed before May, the new manager might have to do that on the cheap.
