Man United Finally Appoints Portuguese Star As Head Coach

Ruben Amorim, a Portuguese football manager, gets appointed as Man United next head coach four days after Erik ten Hag was fired.

“Delighted” by Amorim’s hiring, the club said in a statement put online on Friday, adding that it was “subject to work visa requirements.”

“He will join until June 2027 with a club option of an additional year, once he has fulfilled his obligations to his current club,” it said.

He’ll start working for Manchester United on Monday, November 11.

“Ruud van Nistelrooy will continue to take charge of the team until Ruben joins.”

After four years as manager of Sporting CP, the 39-year-old will join the Premier League powerhouse.

With nine games played, Man United is currently ranked fourteenth in the Premier League.

After United’s most successful manager, Sir Alex Ferguson, who guided the team to a record 13 league titles, Amorim will take over as the team’s sixth permanent manager, reports ABC News

Old Trafford made the news after Sporting announced on Tuesday that Amorim was a target for Manchester United and that the Portuguese team would be prepared to pay his €10 million release clause.
