Manchester United are reportedly set to rival Newcastle United for Everton forward, Dominic Calvert-Lewin in the summer transfer window.
The Red Devils have been linked with a move for the 27-year-old’s teammate, Jarrad Branthwaite with a reported fee of £50 million including add-ons said to have been rejected by Everton.
Branthwaite is seen as United’s preferred choice this summer, with their pursuit of Jean-Clair Todibo derailed by UEFA regulations. Nevertheless, Everton are expected to hold on for a far higher fee and will not be under as much pressure to sell important players as they have in recent seasons.
According to The Athletic as reported by the Shields Gazzette, United are interested in signing Calvert-Lewin as well.
Following rumors that Callum Wilson, the subject of a lot of transfer speculation in January, might depart Tyneside before the end of the summer transfer window, Newcastle have most recently been linked to a move for the 27-year-old to serve as Alexander Isak’s deputy.
Calvert-Lewin netted seven goals in the Premier League last season, including a late penalty that allowed Sean Dyche’s team to salvage a point at St. James’ Park in April.

Everton may be persuaded to sell Calvert-Lewin for £30 million this summer. Or else they run the chance of him leaving on a free when as his contract expires at the end of the next season.
As neither Branthwaite nor Calvert-Lewin was chosen by Gareth Southgate to play for England at the European Championship in Germany this summer, their potential transfer will not be hampered by their international duties.
