Paul Scholes has criticized the transfer strategy of Man United and has urged that the club appoint someone to be in charge of future recruitment.
As Erik ten Hag naturally sought for players he was familiar with, Man United were associated with a number of Ajax players during what was a largely chaotic transfer window.
In contrast, much of the summer was devoted to an unsuccessful search for Frenkie de Jong.
However, Antony and Lisandro Martinez were brought in, with the winger going for an initial sum of around £82m. Tyrell Malacia, Christian Eriksen, and Casemiro were also brought in from other clubs.
Were Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane and Casemiro questionable signings? 🤔

This comes a year after United brought in Cristiano Ronaldo, Jadon Sancho, and Raphael Varane. Three players that were expected to propel the team under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to a serious title challenge.
That, of course, did not happen, with Sancho scoring just five goals across all leagues in his debut campaign at Old Trafford.
Did Man United Make The Right Decision To Buy Sancho?
Scholes questioned the decisions United have made in the transfer window over recent seasons. The club legend also expressed fears for Ten Hag who he thinks could find himself in trouble.
Scholes said: “Jadon Sancho was a young player who Manchester United spent a lot of money on. Who was unproven in the league.
“And why would a club like Real Madrid let Varane go? If you looked at him last season, he didn’t look right.

“I didn’t think it was a great transfer window. Nobody at the club is taking responsibility for it. This year, Casemiro was done over two days.
“I wonder if it was the manager’s signing. A lot of money, a long contract. I think they need to put someone in charge of recruitment. Eventually, the manager will get blamed for it.”
