Thiago Almada’s free kick was misunderstood by United goalkeeper Andre Onana, giving the home team the lead in France. Young defender Leny Yoro then tied the score with his debut goal for the Red Devils.
Later, Joshua Zirkzee appeared to have given Ruben Amorim’s team a vital first-leg advantage when he put them ahead, but Rayan Cherki’s late goal for Lyon tied the score after Onana made another mistake.
Since joining United from Inter Milan in 2023, Onana has made a number of well-publicized mistakes, and it seems that the club’s management is currently looking for a new goalkeeper.
The Manchester club has contacted Brighton & Hove Albion about a possible trade for Bart Verbruggen.
Before joining Brighton in 2023, the Dutchman was a target for United during his time with former team Anderlecht, reports Shoot.
However, he has since joined the Seagulls and has been playing well on the south coast, appearing in 60 games for Brighton across all competitions and recording 15 clean sheets.
This season, Verbruggen has started Brighton’s last 29 Premier League games.
