Manchester United have joined Liverpool in the race for Thiago Alcantara.
Bayern Munich chief Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has said he expects to receive a bid for the midfielder in “the next few days”.
And respected Norwegian reporter Fredrik A. N. Filtvedt, who works for Dagbladet TV, claims United are battling Liverpool for his signature.
The Reds have been the main club linked with Thiago since it was announced he would leave Bayern this season.
But Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is now looking to swoop for the 29-year-old.
Solskjaer is close to completing his first deal of the summer, with attacking midfielder Donny van de Beek expected to arrive from Ajax this week after the two clubs agreed a £40m deal.
