Manchester United are reportedly on the verge of signing Brentford goalkeeper, David Raya ahead of the summer transfer window in a fee close to £44 million.
According to reports from Spain as cited by Team Talk, Raya has been seen as a potential shot-stopper who will replace David De Gea between the sticks before the next season kick-starts.
De Gea has already played in 12 seasons while donning the gloves at Old Trafford with great distinction. There is little doubt that the £18.9 million invested in 2011 to acquire him from Atletico Madrid will go down as one of the club’s best foreign acquisitions.
At Old Trafford, De Gea, who is now 32, has won every major domestic trophy.
But because his contract is about to expire, there have been no progress in negotiations for an extension.
According to rumours in Spain, a ‘ruthless’ Ten Hag will permit De Gea to leave Old Trafford on his own terms.
In his place, the Red Devils will pay £44 million to sign Raya from Brentford.
The twice-capped Spain player has replaced De Gea in the national team. And it now appears that he is prepared to do the same at United.
