MANCHESTER United passed the first of their FIVE MAJOR TESTS in the rat race for the Top 4 with flying colours when they blew away poor Tottenham Hotspur 3-0 at Old Trafford. Going by their patchy form all-season long and Spurs impressive run as well as their victories in their last two visits to OT, I thought the visitors should get something from this clash.
But while United gave an awesome performance, orchestrated by oft underrated midfield engine Michael Carrick, Spurs were utterly awful and abject. God, how the Red Devils have missed Carrick. And probably for the first time too, LVG played with three natural midfielders in Carrick, Juan Mata and Anders Herrera, plus of course Marouane Fellaini with Wayne Rooney in his best position up front.
I know you all want to know whether that Sunday performance has made me change my projection for the race to finish in the Top 4. Well, absolutely not. Remember I gave United a maximum of 10 points (or seven going by my hunches) from next 18, starting from Spurs. Even with this latest impressive performance, I remain committed to my prediction.
