Man United, PSG Offered Chance To Sign Nicolo Zaniolo

Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly interested in signing Roma forward Nicolo Zaniolo.

Zaniolo has been linked with a move away from Stadio Olimpico throughout the January transfer window, having been with the club since 2018.

Over the weekend, manager Jose Mourinho confirmed that the 23-year-old had requested a transfer, but hinted that a move was not guaranteed.

“Nicolo Zaniolo has asked to leave the club – but I am not sure it will happen,” the Portuguese told reporters. Current proposals are not enough.

“We only need a good proposal to let Zaniolo leave, and we’ve not received it. My feeling is that at the end, he will stay.”

Mourinho’s statements seem to be based on teams preferring to negotiate an initial loan agreement with the option to buy later.

According to reports, Roma is demanding a fee of around £35m for a player with less than 18 months left on his contract.

Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United are both said to be interested in the Italy international as they look to strengthen in the final third.

However, AreaNapoli claims that the player has recently been offered to Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain.

Even with Wout Weghorst on loan from Burnley until the end of the season, United are considering their options in the final third.

Meanwhile, PSG recently reduced their wage bill by selling Pablo Sarabia to Wolverhampton Wanderers, though it is unclear whether the Spaniard will be replaced.

Zaniolo has been a regular for Roma this season, making 15 starts and two substitute appearances across all competitions.

He has only contributed two goals and one assist in those appearances, and Roma have won 2-0 against Fiorentina and Spezia in his absence.
