Manchester United are edging closer to swoop for a player dubbed “the next Neymar” as Erik ten Hag works to expand his team’s offensive options.
The Red Devils fell behind 2-0 in the first five minutes of their match against Nottingham Forest. But they rallied to win 3-2 at Old Trafford. United displayed tenacity and steel, but Ten Hag’s attacking options were once again called into doubt.
The Dutchman would ideally like to add another attacker to his team. This is to lessen the strain on players like Marcus Rashford as he waits for star forward acquisition Rasmus Hojlund to recover from an injury.
According to La Gazzetta Dello Sport as reported by Four Four Two, in order to improve their ranks in the final third, United are reportedly pursuing Brazilian wonderkid Marcos Leonardo.
Leonardo, 20, who was ranked No. 35 on FFT’s 2023 list of the most intriguing teenagers in football, has previously been compared to Neymar due to his talent.
Similar to the most expensive footballer of all time, Leonardo developed at Santos. And in the next years, he is expected to play in Europe.
According to the source, Roma are considering a move for the 20-year-old in January. But United might outbid them, signaling to rivals the extent to which they are about fighting for trophies both now and in the years to come.
