Man United To Change Transfer Stance On Star Defender Following Yoro Injury

Manchester United are reportedly set to rekindle their interest in Bayern Munich defender, Matthijs de Ligt following an unfortunate injury to Leny Yoro.

Earlier on Saturday, during United’s 2-1 loss to Arsenal in Los Angeles, the new £59 million acquisition from Lille suffered the injury. The seriousness of the problem has not yet been acknowledged by United, but the early indications are bad.

After leaving the game in the first half, the 18-year-old was seen at UCLA, United’s training facility in Los Angeles, on crutches and covering his left foot with a plastic boot.

For United and manager Erik ten Hag, who intends to start the new season with the French wonderkid at the center of his new-look defense, Yoro’s likely long-term absence would be a tremendous blow.

Lisandro Martinez, who helped Argentina win the Copa America, hasn’t returned to training yet, which presents Ten Hag with additional defensive concerns. August 16’s Premier League clash against Fulham might be too soon for him.

After a minor injury, Victor Lindelof, who has been linked to a move away from the club, has just returned to full training.

According to The Mirror, United are still looking to add to their defense lineup, and De Ligt remains on their want list. The Dutch defender and United have verbally agreed on personal terms, but the clubs cannot agree on a fee.

Bayern would not permit a player they acquired from Juventus two years ago for more than £60 million to depart on a cheap.

Although it won’t take much to convince the 24-year-old to leave Bavaria, Yoro’s injury may compel United to increase their offer.
